Skin cancer is a prevalent condition in the UK, with rates increasing faster than any other cancer. Approximately 1 in 4 men and 1 in 5 women will develop a form of skin cancer at least once in their lifetime.
Luckily – if it is caught early – skin cancer is also one of the most treatable forms of cancer. Our on-site plastic surgeon has specialist training in skin cancer treatment, and can treat definite or suspected cancers and remove benign skin lesions such as moles and cysts.
Benign
We can remove benign lesions – including moles, naevus, senile warts, and sebaceous cysts – by shaving or excising them to ensure they are not cancerous or for cosmetic reasons.
Precancerous
We can remove precancerous lesions such as lentigo maligna and actinic or solar keratosis through excision, creams, or cryotherapy to ensure they don’t progress.
Cancerous
We can remove basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma through excision, and arrange any follow-up appointments, tests, or further excisions if required.

We diagnose your issue – booking you in for on-site diagnostic testing if required – and create an evidence-based care plan to support your long-term health planning.
Ongoing support.
If needed, our team will book you in for follow-up appointments, so we can provide continuity of care and continue to support your long-term health planning.
In most cases, you can self-refer for a consultation at our skin cancer clinic. You can book your appointment with us online, or by calling our friendly team during opening hours.
Common warning signs include:
A new mole or skin lesion
Changes to an existing mole's size, shape, or colour
A sore that does not heal
Patches of skin that itch, bleed, or crust over
Early intervention leads to more positive outcomes. Any unusual skin changes should always be assessed by a specialist.
Skin cancer is usually diagnosed through a clinical examination and, where necessary, a biopsy. A small sample of tissue may be removed and analysed in a laboratory to determine whether cancerous cells are present.
During your appointment, your consultant will take the time to speak to you about your symptoms and medical history, including any family history of similar symptoms or conditions.
If further diagnostic testing or imaging is required, this will be at an additional cost. Your options will be explained clearly and in detail during your initial consultation.
After your appointment, your consultant will create a report summarising your discussion alongside recommendations for your next steps.
