Gain clarity on your heart health and a personalised plan to move forward with an echocardiogram at Lanarkshire Private Clinic.
An echocardiogram scan is a detailed, non-invasive ultrasound. It’s a diagnostic test that uses high-frequency sound waves to create moving images that evaluate the structure and function of the heart.
An echocardiogram is used to detect a range of heart conditions, including valve problems, muscle weakness, congenital heart conditions, cardiomyopathy, and heart failure.
Heart Rhythm Monitoring
A portable ECG that is worn for 24-72 hours to provide more data on dizziness, palpitations, or blackouts than an in-clinic test.
ECG
A simple and painless test that records the electrical activity of the heart, used to diagnose arrhythmias, blockages, or signs of a heart attack.
Blood Tests for Cardiac Health
Comprehensive blood testing to assess risk factors and underlying conditions. Includes a cholesterol profile, kidney profiling, and cardiac biomarkers.
How It Works
Book your scan.
You can easily book your private echocardiogram scan online, or by calling our friendly team during opening hours. We often have same and next-day appointments available.
Get confirmation.
After booking your appointment, one of our team will get in touch to go through a questionnaire to ensure a private echocardiogram is safe for you.
Attend your scan.
Arrive 15 minutes before your scan, register at reception, and complete any pre-appointment checks. Your scan will then typically take 30 minutes.
Get your results.
The results of your scan will be sent to you and your chosen medical practitioner within 48 hours, so you can create a personalised plan of your next steps.
In most cases, you can self-refer for an echocardiogram. You can book your scan with us online, or by calling our friendly team during opening hours.
Prior to your scan, you will need to remove your top and lie down on an examination couch. We will provide a hospital gown for privacy, and can give you a locker for your valuables if required.
A cardiac sonographer or specialist will place a small handheld device called a transducer on your chest using a water-based gel. The transducer sends sound waves to create images of your heart on a screen. You may need to take deep breaths or change positions so your sonographer can capture images from different angles. The procedure is painless, safe, and non-invasive.
After your scan, you will discuss the results with your sonographer. If further diagnostic testing or treatment is required, this will be explained clearly and in detail.
Typically, your appointment will take up to 60 minutes, including your scan and a discussion afterwards.
An echocardiogram is completely painless and does not involve any electrical shocks. The electrodes simply record your heart's natural electrical activity.
Typically, no special preparation is required. Unless you have been advised otherwise, you can eat, drink, and take medication as normal.
